The Biodiversity Conservation and Community Development in Al-Makhrour Valley was a conservation and sustainable development project. It was a collaboration between Palestine and the United Kingdom, which the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability led. The project aimed to conserve at-risk biodiversity while benefiting local communities in the area. This was
accomplished by valuing and utilizing ecosystem services. The project also aimed to promote sustainable agriculture and ecotourism while reducing human impact through environmental awareness and education programs. Before beginning of the project, we anticipated that by the end of the project the area will have revived traditional farming, enhanced ecotourism opportunities,
and enhanced economic resiliency. This project was funded by Darwin Initiative – UK.
